Dias De Los Muertos
Dias De Los Muertos is more famously known as the day of the dead. This is considered to be a Mexican holiday where family and friends come together to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey. Tradition celebrates this day by having festivals and dressing up as the deceased. The skull and roses worn in the hair are a common imagery used for Dias De Los Muertos. Inspired by this Mexican holiday, I created this digital art piece using Photoshop. I wanted it to have this ominous tone with the use of dramatic lighting to represent the mysteries of what exists beyond our human existence? According to Mexican Folk Art, the deep red flower symbolizes the blood of Christ and white symbolize peace, beauty and sympathy.
